resistance glove-required. Need to bring paintbrushes - #5-12.

Santa roughouts for the intermediate to advanced carver. Details will
be taken to carve a pleasing face, anatomy and proportions will be
stress. Tool requirements: straight knife, 60%-1/4" V-tool, veiners
#11-3mm to #11-10mm, gouges #3-1", #7-!/2". Paintbrushes-sizes #6-13
and a paint pallet.

moose are killed for this project, the antler will be natural drops
found in the woods of Maine (for those who may not know moose shed
their antlers every year - these are called drops.

done in one day. Some of the projects are: brogan work shoe, playing
spoons, stylized owl, love spoons, usable spoon and scoop, flutes,
bowls (hand carved), sleeping bunnies, shelf mouse, walking sticks
made from sapling-bark skinned off and wood burned with message about
Doane, etc. with leather hand grip and rubber tip. Need to bring your
own tools. Some tools will be for sale.

power grinder, must have dust collector, carving tools and supplies.

of size on elk antlers. So a small scene carved into the side of the

Foredom, etc.), dental burrs, diamond cutters, carbide cutzalls
(small) or what burrs you have, clamp on light, power cords and
Optivisor 1.

Caricatures - Civil War Soldier

bucket or tub (20"-24" diameter), pruning shears, block plane and
needle nose pliers.

out of brass tubing and leaves from copper. Need to bring dust

feet, eyes and habitat.

Fred will teach Tuesday to Friday low relief carving. Two
projects will be completed. 1. a simple woodburned barn, 2. larger
low relief barn or cabin. Carving with wood burned details. Both
projects will be painted and stained during class. Both Elaine and
Fred are teaching again this year. Carvers who have taken this class
before can choose a larger more complex design or a cutout relief of
lighthouse, a pelican etc. Need carving tools (3 sweep gouges of
various sizes), wood burner, paintbrushes, clamp on light and small
fan.

Caricature - Horse and Rider

days of carving a rearing horse and rider. Rider can be a Cowboy
or Indian. Ambitious project, but can be carved in 5 days from a
roughout. Emphasis will be placed on caricature expression and
anatomy. Need to bring standard hand carving tools. Size of

block (2" x 2" x 4"). Instruction will cover first caricature, then
students can select from several examples for the rest of the week.

gouges, V-tools and medium size knife. No power tools.

hear from those interested as to what project they would like
to do.
